I’m on the 11th tee at the Old Course at St. Andrews. It’s a sunny day with a 15 mph breeze from the left. The fairway is wide and inviting and the Swilcan Bridge looms to the right. I hit a 230-yard drive and an 8-iron to the front of the green, followed by three putts for a 5. But since it’s my first time on the course, I’m thrilled with a bogey to finish my round.
